About ... Dr.Jiba Kanta Saikia Homoeopathic Medical College

Dr.J.K.S. Homoeopathic Medical College  was established on 2nd October , 1975 which was intially named as Assam Homoeopathic Medical College. Later it was renamed as Dr. J. K. Saikia Homoeopathic Medical College in memory of the donor of the main building Dr. Jiba Kanta Saikia , the 1st Director of Health Service, Govt. of Assam. This institute has been running successfully the undergraduate level of Homoeopathy (B.H.M.S) since 1996 . Initially this course was affiliated by Dibrugarh University and currently it has been shifted to Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Science , Guwahati , Assam. Presently there are 4 batches doing the BHMS course consisting of students not only from Assam but also from other states of North East India as nominee. The college is also supporting the health care system of this region by running two peripheral OPD, three Hospital OPD and  a well equipped indoor teaching Hospital . Also various health camps ,awareness programs  etc are often organized at different places from time to time. One Herbal Garden covering an area of app.13378 sq.met.(10 bigha) is also maintained under this institute . For upgrading the clinical knowledge of the students, visiting to Pharmaceutical and forensic Laboratory , Research Centers , Medical Colleges of other system , joining and organizing state and national level Seminars etc are also maintained by this institute very successfully.
